Áttörést értek el az élő sejtek megfigyelésében a Debreceni Egyetem kutatói. A tudósok egy olyan egyedülálló videómikroszkópos rendszert építettek, melynek használata új távlatokat nyit a rákkutatásban és a farmakológiában is.
Sehol a világon nem tudták még olyan sokáig és olyan sokszor lefotózni az élő sejteket, mint a Debreceni Egyetemen. Egy egyedi építésű négy videómikroszkópból álló rendszerrel 28 napon keresztül figyelték és percenként fotózták a sejtek szövetté válásának folyamatát. Más mikroszkópos módszerekkel mindössze néhány óráig, vagy legfeljebb néhány napig lehet vizsgálni mesterségesen tenyésztett sejteket.
